How DailyFinn calculates scores

DailyFinn evaluates every asset across two dimensions — Performance and Market Position — and combines them into a single GloRisk Score when both are available.

Performance Score (0–100)

The Performance Score measures how an asset is behaving based on price data. It tracks 10 indicators across three categories: volatility, trend, and returns. Each indicator is scored independently, and the results are combined into a single score from 0 (Critical) to 100 (Very Stable).

A high Performance Score means the asset is showing stable price behaviour — low volatility, upward trends, and healthy returns. A low score means the opposite — elevated risk signals across multiple dimensions.

Performance Scores are recalculated every time market data is refreshed.

Volatility
Daily Volatility
How wildly the price moves day-to-day, expressed as an annualised figure.
Volatility Spike
Recent volatility compared to the longer-term average. A rising ratio means volatility is accelerating.
Trend
50-Day Trend
Price relative to its 50-day moving average.
200-Day Trend
Price relative to its 200-day moving average.
Trend Direction
Whether the 50-day average is above or below the 200-day average.
Return
Distance from Peak
How far the price is from its 3-year high.
30-Day Return
Total price return over the past 30 days.
12-Month Return
Total price return over the past 12 months.
Position in Range
Where the price sits within its 52-week high/low band.
3-Year Growth
Compound annual growth rate over 3 years.
Market Position Score (0–100)

The Market Position Score evaluates the fundamental quality of a business. It uses an AI-powered research framework that scores 10 factors across two categories:

Internal Rating — business quality, financial performance, earnings trajectory, leadership, and competitive moat.

External Rating — market position, regulatory exposure, supply chain resilience, macroeconomic sensitivity, and industry outlook.

Each factor is scored 1–10 by an AI research model, and the results are averaged to produce an overall Market Position Score scaled to 100.

Based on the Internal and External ratings, every analysed asset is classified into one of four categories:

Classification
What it means
Momentum
Strong fundamentals and favourable external conditions.
Resilient
Strong business facing macro or cyclical pressures.
Fragile
Stable externally but weaker internal fundamentals.
Trouble
Weak fundamentals and challenging conditions.

Market Position reports are generated periodically using AI research and reviewed for quality.

GloRisk Score (0–100)

The GloRisk Score is a composite that combines Performance and Market Position into a single number. It is calculated as the average of the two scores.

The GloRisk Score is only available for assets that have both a Performance Score and a Market Position Score. Assets without a Market Position report will show their Performance Score only.

The same rating scale applies to all scores:

Rating
Score Range
What it means
Very Stable
90 – 100
Nearly all indicators are healthy. Very few risk signals.
Stable
80 – 89
Mostly healthy indicators with minor concerns. Low overall risk.
Unstable
60 – 79
A mix of healthy and warning signals. Risk is elevated but not extreme.
Stressed
40 – 59
Multiple warning and critical signals are active.
Critical
0 – 39
Widespread critical signals across multiple dimensions.
Important notes

Performance Scores are based entirely on historical price data. They do not factor in news, fundamentals, or sentiment.

Market Position Scores are generated by AI research models and reflect a point-in-time assessment. They are not updated in real time.

The GloRisk Score is a signal aggregator, not a prediction. It summarises where an asset sits today — it does not forecast future performance.
